WHAT IS EMDR?
Our brains, like the rest of our bodies, are incredibly resilient and are built to heal. EMDR helps the brain resume and complete its natural healing process. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require that you speak in detail about the past. Often in less time than other therapies, EMDR rewires your nervous system, brings relief from distress and allows new, positive perspectives to take root. EMDR is a gold standard treatment for PTSD and C-PTSD and effective in treating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, eating disorders, and many other concerns.
HOW CAN EMDR HELP ME?
When y0u survive a traumatic experience, you are often left with two challenges- repeated intrusive memories of the distressing event ("being triggered") and a negative believe about yourself. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy with over 35 years of extensive research, it helps trauma survivors both reduce the distress related to reminders of the event and transform the negative belieef into a growth-fostering, postive belief.
EMDR is an 8-phase treatment that begins with a thorough assessment and preparation. In collaboration, we will create a treatment plan that will focus on the memories and experiences that have dysregulated your nervous system and apply the EMDR protocol and allow your brain to do what it is made to do- heal. When you have completed EMDR you will notice you are triggered less often, your distress around triggers is greatly reduced and you are no longer bothered by old negative beliefs.
EMDR can fit into your life whether you are looking for the slow and steady pace of weekly therapy or want to work intensively to feel better in days. I offer EMDR to my clients in three ways: we can incorporate EMDR into weekly psychotherapy, as an adjunct to the ongoing work you are doing with another therapist or enjoy relief in just days with an EMDR Intensive.

EMDR Therapy
EMDR is a therapy that frees the innate healing power within your body and mind.
With EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) you identify the specific memories, fears, body sensations, and beliefs that are keeping you stuck in frustrating and unhelpful patterns. Your body is able to heal and reprocess these memories and store the information in a more helpful way, allowing you to move forward and react differently.

Adjunctive EMDR Therapy
EMDR works very well as a complement to your current therapy.
If you are already working with a therapist who is not trained in EMDR, but you feel like EMDR could be helpful, you can talk to your therapist about doing adjunctive EMDR therapy.
We can work together as a team to create a treatment plan and, depending on your needs and goals, do focused EMDR sessions either weekly or as an EMDR intensive.

EMDR Intensives
EMDR Intensives consist of intense, full-day sessions for 1-4 days.
The Intensive format allows you to complete the equivalent of months of therapy, reaching your goals and feeling better, in a condensed period of time. This option is great for busy people who have a hard time fitting in weekly sessions or anyone who is highly motivated to heal and get back to living life.
